What Can You See?
Viewing full-scale, 40” x 64” prints of this work provide an interesting contrast to the small images in the Invisible Landscape galleries. With the web images, you focus on the shapes of recognizable objects. In the large prints, you are confronted by a world of micro compositions. The sense of looking through a window diminishes. Your eye is drawn to what is in transition: the movement from the water’s surface to below, the interplay between reflected and solid objects, the movement of values across the print’s surface. In the large prints the very nature of the landscapes depicted are less clear, and your eye is free to roam across the print’s surface and render an image in your mind’s eye.
